Anyone who went to last year’s show was aware that things were a little ‘tight’, space-wise, in the exhibition. This year they’ve expanded into Hyde Park across the road with a wooden tent structure full of product, textile, and automotive design projects.
Automotive projects included this beautifully finished interior, complete with brass fittings;
A Star-Wars inspired cyber chariot;
A laminated wooden car for ultimate transport sustainability;
And an exuisitely-detailed 3-door coupe;
On balance, some good stuff….but I and the other 2 people I went with, came away with the nagging feeling that, while there were some great novel ideas on show, their application on today and tomorrow’s vehicles might be a little far-fetched…
Some of the architecture models were the show-stealers in my opinion;
Not exactly design…but spotted this mutated beast in the animation section…uncanny;
and LeMans….ok, slight prediction error; Audi 1st, Peugeot 2nd…close – ish!
